CHILDREN’S EXPERIMENTAL THEATRE’S REGISTRATION FOR THE 20TH ANNUAL SUMMER INTENSIVE IS HAPPENING NOW!
The 20th Annual SUMMER INTENSIVE is now registering at Children’s Experimental Theatre.
For four weeks (June 23rd to July 18th) young people, ages 7-15, interested in all aspects of theatre arts will meet five days a week, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students will explore a variety of subjects drawn from puppetry, mask-making, theatrical makeup, stage combat and fencing, dance, set design and artistry, stagecraft and prop construction, movement, play-writing, period costuming, heraldry, improvisation and more. Experts in these fields will teach a limited number of students at the INDOOR FOREST THEATRE. All materials are included. Tuition is $600 for the term with a $50 registration/insurance fee.
Space is very limited and filling up fast. An Early-bird discount is offered if registration is completed by June 1st , with discounts for concurrently enrolled siblings! Children's Experimental Theatre Robbery Never Solved
Our theatre props, period costumes, furniture and antiques that we have accumulated over the past 47 years were stolen from our storage site at CSUMB some time in late July 2006. Nothing has been recovered.
The replacement cost
for each costume is about $3,000. We need YOUR help to rebuild our stock.
Please help us by making a donation, buying Staff Players tickets, donating
antique costumes or sponsoring a student in the CET Conservatory this year.
As many of you know, CET/SPRC has managed to survive for 47 years and produced
an enormous amount of theatre for not only adults, but for countless students
(over a million to date) in our county's public schools due to the careful
collection and maintenance of our vast costume and properties collection. We
are in no position financially to replace these items, many of which were
especially made and designed for our many productions or were rare one-of-a-kind
originals. Not only were adult production items taken, but there were many
taken from our Traveling Troupe and Children's Theatre collections.
We
appreciate any help you can offer and thank you in advance for your assistance. We now begin the long process of
trying to replace our mother lode of theatrical
properties and costumes, without which we cannot do our work for the community.

Children's Experimental Theatre and Staff Players Repertory Company are the best-kept secret in Carmel.
CET was founded in 1960 by our artistic director, Marcia Gambrell Hovick, to encourage students in grades K through 12 to develop their own level of creative confidence through theatre.
Staff Players Repertory Company was founded in 1969 to provide financial support to CET. It is the oldest continually producing theatre company in Carmel. Most on-site activities take place at the historic Indoor Forest Theatre in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
